Recommended hardware and setup for gate operations.

Hardware and Scanners

ClearAccess is a software-first platform, but it works best with the right hardware at your gate.

Mobile Scanners

The easiest way to get started is by using mobile devices (Android or iOS) running the ClearAccess web scanner.

Recommended Device Specs:

  • Camera: Autofocus is required.
  • Battery: We recommend devices with at least 4000mAh battery for full-day shifts.
  • Connectivity: 4G/LTE support.

Dedicated Hardware

For high-volume estates, we support dedicated handheld scanners and fixed gate hardware.

Handheld QR Scanners

We support professional handheld scanners (e.g., Zebra, Sunmi) that provide faster scanning in low-light or high-speed environments. These devices usually come with built-in hardware scanners rather than relying on the camera.

Fixed Gate Readers

ClearAccess can integrate with fixed QR readers mounted at the gate entrance. These can be configured to automatically trigger gate barriers upon successful verification.

Third-Party Integrations

We support enterprise-grade hardware through our integration partners:

  • LenelS2 OnGuard: Sync cardholders and access levels directly.
  • HID Mobile Access: Issue HID Mobile IDs to visitors' phones for touchless entry.
  • ZKTeco: Integration with biometrics and turnstiles.
