Hardware and Scanners
ClearAccess is a software-first platform. Estates can begin with phones and the core gate workflow before they add dedicated scanners, fixed readers, or gate equipment integrations.
Software-First Setup
The recommended first step is to configure access points, invite the Gate Team, and use mobile devices running the ClearAccess web scanner. This lets the estate validate visitor flow, resident adoption, and payment policy before committing to hardware.
Recommended Mobile Device Specs
- Camera: Autofocus is required.
- Battery: Devices with at least 4000mAh battery are better for full-day shifts.
- Connectivity: 4G/LTE support is recommended for gate teams.
Hardware Integration Package
Dedicated hardware is an optional expansion, not a required setup step. The Hardware Integration Package has a Starter minimum and requires Premium Support during rollout so device fit, gate workflow, training, and support handoff are handled deliberately.
Common examples include:
- QR scanners and handheld scanner devices.
- Fixed gate readers.
- Gate barrier controllers.
- Turnstile interfaces.
- Supported third-party perimeter systems.
This package covers compatibility review and integration planning. It does not promise procurement, device inventory, or installation scheduling inside the software plan.
Dedicated Hardware
For high-volume estates, supported handheld scanners and fixed gate hardware can improve scanning speed and operator consistency.
Handheld QR Scanners
Professional handheld scanners, including devices in categories similar to Zebra or Sunmi, can provide faster scanning in low-light or high-speed environments.
Fixed Gate Readers
Fixed QR readers can be mounted at gate entrances and connected to supported gate workflows where the estate has the right equipment and operating policy.
Third-Party Integrations
ClearAccess can scope custom integrations for estates that already operate perimeter or identity systems. Examples may include access-control systems, mobile access systems, biometric terminals, turnstiles, and barrier controllers.
To discuss a hardware rollout, contact support or sales and ask about Custom rollout terms, Premium Support during rollout, and whether the estate's existing equipment is a fit.
